Spin Digital
Spin Digital Video Technologies GmbH (Spin Digital) is a Berlin-based company that develops high-performance video codecs for the next generation immersive media. In the context of LPGPU2 Spin Digital is developing a next generation video rendering engine that combined with Spin Digital’s high performance HEVC decoder allows the creation of advanced media playback applications.

Haifeng Gao
Haifeng holds an MSc degree in Computer Science from Technical University of Berlin. He is an advanced OpenGL and DirectShow developer. At Spin Digital Haifeng is in charge of integrating video technologies into multimedia frameworks.
Thomas Siedel
Thomas holds a MSc degree in Computer Science from Computer Science from Technical University of Berlin. At Spin Digital Thomas is responsible for advanced video codec product development including: HEVC SDK, HEVC encoder, Media Player, and cloud solutions development.
Chi Ching Chi
Chi holds an MSc degree in Computer Engineering from Delft University of Technology. As a researcher, he published numerous articles on H.264 and HEVC video codec implementations. He was also part of the Fraunhofer HHI team that produced the first demonstration of 4K real-time HEVC decoding. He is the CTO of Spin Digital and is in charge of the overall technical development of the company.
Sergio Sanz Rodríguez
Sergio holds a PhD degree in Multimedia and Communications from Carlos III University of Madrid. He has been a teaching assistant at Carlos III University of Madrid and a researcher at the Technical University of Berlin. He has collaborated in R&D projects with the Fraunhofer Institute HHI in Berlin and visited the Nokia Research Centre in Tampere. He has worked as an engineer for several TV and cinema production companies in Madrid. He has more than 10 years of research experience in video coding and has published numerous articles in prestigious conferences and journals. At Spin Digital Sergio is working on the development of the video codec technology and the management of R&D projects.
Alexander Papachristos
Alexander holds an MBA in Finance from Peking University Guanghua School of Management. He has been a visiting professor teaching finance & management courses in universities in Beijing. He has advised various startups in China and lectured in European universities on the Chinese economy. He started his career as an accountant for Bayer in Barcelona and had stints in Private Equity, M&A and Asset Management in Dubai, Berlin and Doha respectively. He is the CFO of Spin Digital, responsible for finance, operations and investor relations.
Mauricio Alvarez-Mesa
Mauricio holds a PhD degree in Computer Engineering from Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He has more than 10 years of research experience in the field of optimization of video codecs. He has worked as a researcher for several international institutions such as the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, IBM Haifa, Fraunhofer Institute HHI in Berlin and Technical University of Berlin. He has been part of several international research projects as well as co-authored more than 20 publications, and a book in the field of parallel computing for video coding. Mauricio is the CEO of Spin Digital, responsible for the general strategy of the company, business development, and R&D projects.
