Science – A caterpillar that eats and digests plastic
There was a recent discovery that could potentially have a great impact on the environmental problem of plastic. A bee hive parasite, that naturally digest bee wax, is found to also digest plastic with a phenomenon rate. In 12 hours the 100 wax moths had eaten 92 milligrams of plastics. Of course more study should be done, possibly to identify the ensume that helps the moth to break up the chemical bonds of the polyethylene molecules.
